WWI U.S. M-1910 ENTRENCHING AXE WITH ORIGINAL OLIVE DRAB PAINT EXCELLENT COND.

Description

ORIGINAL WORLD WAR ONE U.S. M-1910 ENTRENCHING AXE.  This is a WWI issued axe marked "U.S." on both the axe head & the wooden handle.  The WWI axe differs from the WWII issued axe by these markings (The WWII issued axe is marked by the manufacturer & dated on the head & is not marked U.S. on the handle).  This example shows some light wear & age and remains in outstanding condition.  The axe retains most of its original olive drab paint on the handle and about half on the axe head - see photos.  The majority of these M-1910 axes found today have most if not all of the original paint worn away.  The axe head is fitted tight to the handle without any wiggle room.  Overall a rare find in this condition & would make an excellent addition to any WWI field gear collection!
