Rare optical aircraft machine sight for US .30 caliber & 11mm ballon-buster Vickers. This device is 80cm long by 5cm in diameter and consists of inert gas filled tube ( to prevent fogging) and has no magnification. Internally there is two aiming rings. This was an advanced development as comparing to the ring and bead sighting systems. The Aldis system you place both rings on the target while looking through the tube - regardless of your eye position you hit the target. With the ring and bead system; your eye, ring, and bead must line up while shooting. This is difficult to do while maneuvering the aircraft . See my other Air Service items. Questions welcomed.
