WW1 British Army Officer Issue Leather Cavalry Mounted Saddle Bags
This is sort of what you would call a barn find.  The collector passed away more than 2 decades ago and his collection remained untouched in his house until this year.
He was heavily into horses and collected mostly U.S. Cavalry from the Civil War through WW1.  He enjoyed restoring saddles, both military and civilian.  He took extreme care with his collection until his death in the mid 1990s with most of the items only suffering drying out since his passing.
These bags are in very good condition.  We treated them with oil but they could use some more.  We could not find any markings on them but they have the telltale checkered lining that we have seen before.
There are scratches and worn spots from age and use but they have plenty of years left in them.
