    Description

    Here is a very rare WWI US Army Medical Department MEDICAL & SURGICAL CHEST embossed on the top.  Completely made of pressed steel, it has a single steel tray set inside with woven canvas straps.  Patent dates impressed on sides from 1905-1910.  Medical caduceus and large red cross on sides.  Stenciled "PHC 11" to front and "PHC" to two sides.  Appears to be early khaki painted finish.
    Condition:  Old painted finish, some rust to metal inside and out.  One of the shelf bracket welds is broken, right and left lock hasps are missing (central one intact).  Rare survivor.
