World War IFlying Glove
Description:
This flying glove dates back to the World War I era from the Los Angeles hangar of the "The Quiet Birdmen” as well as the pilots from the “Byrd Antarctic Expedition”. This glove comes from a hangar full of rich American History, The Quiet Birdmen is a secretive club in the United States for male aviators. Founded in 1921 by World War I pilots, the organization meets in various locations, never announced to the public. Members, called QBs, must be invited to join, and they join for life. Today, the club's membership, organized into regional "hangars", is made up primarily of retired airline and military pilots, and astronauts. It is also known as ye Anciente and Secret Order of Quiet Birdmen.
The Byrd Antarctic Expedition (s) was lead by admiral Richard E. Byrd. His first expedition in 1928 to the Antarctic involved two ships, and three airplanes. Byrd undertook four more expeditions to Antarctica from 1933–35, 1939–40, 1946–47 and 1955–56. According to popular myth, Admiral Richard E. Byrd is reported to have discovered an anomalous, almost sub-tropical land when he overflew the South Pole in 1947. The actual purpose of this flight was not to conduct - as was reported - a geographical survey, but to search for the people of this exodus and ultimately destroy them. The log of this flight reports that "Flugelrads - wingwheels,- were sent to the surface to investigate the first nuclear explosions". Following the flight, Byrd led an expedition consisting of 100.000 armed troops, an aircraft carrier and a battleship to the South Pole. If he achieved anything, then it has not been publicized, by all accounts a came back a chastened man. The president of the USA and the military ordered the suppression of this information. Byrd himself, on pain of dearth was ordered to forget it. It seems therefore that this is yet another example of an occult/military/government conspiracy of silence.

The leather is quite worn and is a bit stiff, as one would expect with such a piece. Rabbit fur also shows signs of wear. Please see all photos for details.
