Mother of Pearl Beads, Vintage Round, Oval, Tube, Pendant, Heishe Shell B1745

Description

Very fine quality vintage Mother of Pearl Round, Oval and Tube beads, cut and polished in Japan in the '70's. Beads are rich creamy color with iridescent lights that gleam from within as the beads move. Used for high end costume jewelry with coral and/or semi precious beads; very popular in the now vintage Hawaiian coral necklaces..
**B1539 MOP Disc Heishe beads. One side is natural; the other side is highly polished. The size is about 9mm (3/8 inch). It takes about 18 discs to make one inch; Disc or Flat Heishe beads are often used singly as separators, to cover large or rough holes in neighboring beads, or stacked to provide a transition from bigger to smaller beads. The picture shows one way to use Disc beads...butting up against an African Trade Bead. When you wear the necklace, preventsgaps/wire showing.
They're also sewn on to embellish ethnic design clothing and leather.
YOU WILL RECEIVE: TEN gross of the B1539 MOP Disc Heishe beads. 10 gross=1440 beads=80 inches=280 grams.
**B1745 Oval is 5mm around by 10mm long--about 1/4 inch around by a little under one half inch long. 6 Dozen beads=about 27 inches of beads.

**B1760 Tube is 5mm around by 15mm long--that's about 1/4 inch around by about 5/8 inch long. 36 beads will give you about 21 inches of beads. The beads are costly because, aside from the quality, the size is relatively large as Mother of Pearl goes, and there is a lot of waste in the cutting

**B1852:Mother of Pearl Free Form Pendant Drops. Natural, undyed, untreated Mother of Pearl Shell Pendants, white on both sides, with top hole. Back side is natural unpolished (see picture). Nice pearly effect, with a bit of rainbow here and there.
Old stock from the '70's, cut in Japan to follow the natural shell contours. Beads are standard quality white MOP.
Tremendous variation in size/shape. Sizes run from one inch to 1 1/4 inch. The picture shows how a random handful sorts out. The top 2 rows around one inch; the bottom 2 rows up to 1 1/4 inch. Great multi-purpose craft item. Use for costume sew-ons, collages, decorating picture frames etc. Can be used outside.
