    Description

    IRVIN O'NEAL GATES GAVE HIS LIFE FOR THIS COUNTRY.HE WAS FROM TOP NOTCH RD COLUMBIA SC.. THIS IS A LARGE LOT ON IRVIN. FIRST IS LARGE OLD PICTURE 24 1/4"×18 1" AN WITH ISSUES THIS IS VERY OLD. THERE IS A TEAR NEAR HEAD COLLAR AREA MIGHT BEABLE TO FIX IT ARE LEAVE IT.IT ALSO HAS SCTRATCH ON FRAME AN OTHER SMALL ISSUES..ALSO WITH THIS IS ORIGINAL PICTURE THAT WAS USED TO MAKE LARGE PICTURE AN IT WAS HIM AT TRAINING CENTER IN NORFOLK VA. THIS PICTURE HAS FADED SOME BUT FOR 1917 ACCEPTABLE. ALSO A PICTURE OF HIS MOTHER MRS. V.C. GATES AN PICTURE SHOWS SOME AGE. THEN A LETTER FROM AMERICAN LEGION OF SOUTH CAROLINA IN APPRECIATION OF IRVIN O'NEAL GATES VALOR OF PATRIOTISM AN THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT HAS ISSUED. A MEMORIAL CERTIFICATE AN WAS AT MARCUS W. PRICE ADJUTANT OFFICE. THEN A WESTERN UNION TELEGRAM 1917 STATING IRVIN IS SICK TO HIS MOTHER V.C.GATES. THIS IS ALL THERE BUT CAME APART IN MIDDLE.NEXT IS A LETTER FROM VETERANS ADMINISTRATION TO THOMAS SCOTT WHO WAS MARRIED TO IRVINS SISTER. THE 1946 LETTER IS IN GOOD SHAPE AN EXPLAINS THE INCREASE IN DEATH COMPENSATION. THERE ALSO A PICTURE OF THOMAS SCOTT IN EARY 1900'S ON BOARD THE USS CHESTER MOBILE ALA. NEXT IS A LETTER FROM IRVIN 1917 TO HIS DAD OR BROTHER NOT. SURE TELLING THEM TO WRITE HIM.These are sold as is so please ask any questions you have before you purchase.
