Here is a rare fossil toe bone from a type of armored dinosaur, an Ankylosaur called a Nodosaur. From the Hell Creek Formation in Garfield County, Montana. From the Cretaceous about 68 million years ago, the last great age of the Dinosaur.  This toe bone measures about 2.2 inches across.
One Nodosaur was found in Alberta, Canada whose front half was in as pristine, intact condition as could ever be expected. Including bits of skin, food in stomach, head, and of course the armor (June 2017 National Geographic).  Nodosaur grew to about 18 feet and could weigh 3000 lbs.  Like the Ankylosauarus, it had armor nearly everywhere except the underbelly. However, Nodosaur also had long spikes sticking out each side near the shoulders, and lacked the club on the back of its tail.  Nodosaurs had 5 toes per foot, common among ankylosaurs.
We are happy to enclose a COA (Certificate of Authenticity).  Some words of caution about COA’s: Do not let them become a substitute for learning about the specimens. We have been working with fossils and minerals for many years, and we have seen hundreds of very nice-looking COA’s, some that are wrong, mis-describing a specimen. In addition, the person selling the item is often the one who writes the COA (potential conflict of interest). Finally, a COA, without a photo of the exact item on the COA itself,  is worthless, as it can later be placed next to any other fossil or mineral.  We suggest that instead of relying on a COA, that people read and study the subject.
