This is the THIRD EDITION of Jean Hugard's ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CARD TRICKS (which was mostly written by Glenn Gravatt).  This edition was the first printing by TANNENS, and is hardcover (of course).  They kept the same design and page layout as the original 1937 Holden edition, even replicating the original dustjacket design.   It is undated, but I estimate the publication date of this edition was the mid-1960's.
If you want this excellent book, but do not care about owning this earlier edition from the 1960's, check our other listings, as we have a very nice and reasonably priced 2005 6th edition hardcover printed by D. Robbins.   But if you want to have a rarer edition for your library, this Tannens 3rd edition is now very hard to find.
I won't say much about this book, other than if you do not have it, you should get it.
One of those books that is perfect for the beginner, but that lives and grows in value as the owner becomes more knowledgeable and experienced in card magic.  Go back to it again and again, year after year.
Check out the photos of the Table of Contents (all 8 pages of it!)  to get a better idea of just how much good card magic is in this book.
Lots of listings for the Robbins reprint, which most sellers are asking -,  but I could not find another listing anywhere for this Tannens edition.   And I am listing is only slightly above what others list there very common Robbins editions for.
Only have one of this Tannens edition, so if you want it for your library (and you know you do!), do not wait too long...
CONDITION NOTES:  previously owned.  in excellent condition, clean and unmarked, no significant damage or torn pages.  Previous owner's name embossed in the cover.   Dust jacket is in very good condition with only minimal wear on the edges/corners
