I first became familiar with Doug Edwards' magic from seeing his many contributions to Apocalypse, and a couple of his marketed effects.   This book, (which was written by Harry Lorayne but features only magic by Doug Edwards) was the first large collection of Edwards' magic.  (Doug has since published a few other excellent hardback books)
Although there are a couple of non-card items in this book, it is essentially a book of card magic.  It features some very strong routines ("reputation makers" as Lorayne would call them), and a lot of variations and finesse on sleights.  Highlights include the title routine ("Packs a Wallop") which is a great example of how it is possible for a simple, straight-forward handling to get a way-out-of-proportion reaction from laypeople.   His Stunning Jumping Jack is another excellent effect that requires some preparation, but once you make the gimmick, you will use it a lot.
Impressively illustrated, and written in the familiar Harry Lorayne style.
