Here is an unexpected find. It is an hand claw from a Daspletosaurus torosus. It has been identified by 4 experts as tyrannosaur and one, Initials PL, as not dromaeosaur or pterasaur. My first identification also supported Tyrannosaur. The missing proximal end make identification difficult but the acute angle, oversize shape and location where found help narrow the field. Within 1 foot of this claw was found a very large daspletosaurus tooth and one from a baby just about the size expected for a claw like this. Finding baby daspletosaur teeth next to a baby Tyrannosaur claw is a smoking gun for identification in my book.
