    Description

    Atari Tempest Upright Arcade Game.
    I have owned this game for about 20years, during which it has always been kept indoors in a climate controlled environment. It is difficult letting this one go, and I would like it to find a home with someone who will continue to maintain it. I cannot ship this game;local pickup only in Chicago just a bit south of downtown. I can help you move the game into your vehicle, but please bring an appliance dolly because we will have to go up 6 steps and down 2 steps to get the game into the garage.
    Here are most of the important details about the game and what I have done with it over the years:
    * the game runs perfectly
    * the monitor is the original WG 19K6100 color vector monitor, not some unfortunate LCD replacement that you now see starting to turn up in these old games
    * has a new control panel overlay, still in perfect shape
    * original Atari cone buttons / lamps
    * has a new original model spinner control that is completely smooth; original style / shape; no buzzing or wobbling
    * LV2000 low voltage protection circuit for the monitor
    * side art is in great shape and looks amazing, though there is a small abrasion on several of the edges
    * the original linear power supply has been rebuilt and is fully functioning
    * I added a 5V switching power supply with custom cable harness that now runs the game PCBs
    * the 5V switching power supply can be easily removed by just removing the custom cable harness in order to switch the game back to the linear power supply if you prefer
    * the 5V switching power supply also runs three cooling fans that I have added, two pointing upward at the monitor PCBs, and one in front pointing down the length of the game PCBs
    * added casters under the cabinet to make it much, much easier to move without damaging your floors or the game;
    * original back door with (first printing) operation sheet attached inside (I removed the staples and re-attached the sheet in anon-damaging manner)
    * locks and keys for back door and coin door
    * working coin mechanisms; one coin counter
    * new molex connectors and pins to connect the control panel to the PCB
    * replaced the 118 ROM with a 2732 EPROM that has both the original levels and my own custom levels; as far as I know, this is the only machine in existence running my custom levels
    * added a switch secured on the inside of the coin door for easy switching between the original levels and my custom levels; the switchable has a connector so that the switch can be easily detached if you ever need to pull the boards out
    * the original Atari 118 ROM is included and the switch is easily removed if you want to go back to the baseline hardware
    * game comes with what looks like a new monitor parts/cap kit; game also comes with other assorted spare parts, and the parts I removed /replaced over the years so that you can decide what to keep and what to throw out
    * NOTE: there is burn-in on the monitor from wherever the game was before I bought it; there are no "burn-through" holes; the burn-in is nearly impossible to see under normal playing conditions with the dark plexi monitor cover in place,but it is obvious when the monitor cover is removed; in my opinion it does not detract from gameplay due to the dark plexi monitor cover; you can see some of the burn-in due to the bright camera flash in some of the photos
    * NOTE: there is no warranty on the game, express or implied, with this sale; we will make sure it is working when you pick it up, and ongoing maintenance is the buyer's responsibility
