Up for sale is an Arcade1up “Classic” Extended Frame Light Up Marquee Kit for Designated Arcade1up Cabinets.
Marquee Artwork:
The vinyl artwork for the plexiglass panel is INCLUDED with the purchase of this kit.

Delayed Shipping:
As noted above, the vinyl artwork for the plexiglass panel is INCLUDED with the purchase of this kit.
However, I will need to have the guys at the vinyl sign shop fabricate the vinyl art panel once buyer makes selection of the title preferred.
Turnaround time for this process is 2-3 weekdays (M-F).
The marquee kit will be shipped expeditiously once the marquee artwork is completed.
History:
As an owner of several of these cabinets, I had a desire to equip them with backlit marquees, just as the vintage originals.
After viewing online modifications with inferior designs, damaged cabinets, and undesirable results, I set out to build my own.
One requirement I established before starting was to make it a simple remove-and-replace design, with the capability to easily restore the original marquee at any time, returning the cabinet back to “stock” condition.
I personally designed, engineered, milled, and fabricated the entire marquee.
I also created the additional portions of the marquee graphics necessary to fill in the extra wide viewable area of the marquee design.
Sourced from a local supplier, the marquee graphic is printed on backlit film and applied to a sized piece of plexiglass.
Design Specifications:
Arcade1up has recently changed the design of the latest round of cabinet releases.
This marquee frame was especially designed for Arcade1up’s “Pac-Man” series of cabinets, specifically, Ms. Pac-Man, Super Pac-Man, and 40
th
Anniversary Pac-Man.
The new design utilizes originally supplied Speaker Panel “M” as a “shelf” that this marquee frame rest on.
This frame extends the face of the marquee approximately 4½ inches forward to give it a more “classic” arcade appearance.

This marquee design requires additional time, materials, resources, and engineering to fabricate, hence, the price, reluctantly, is higher than other marquee kits available for purchase.
This design is available on a very limited basis.
My goal is to provide potential buyers who desire a lit marquee with the extended classic “face forward” design with this purchasing option.
If you desire a less expensive lit marquee kit without the “forward face” modification, my Generation 3 marquee kits will fit these new Pac-Man series cabinets as well.

Arcade1up “Classic” Extended Frame Light Up Marquee Kit for Designated Arcade1up Cabinets with choice of marquee art.
This kit was designed to give this new style of Arcade1up cabinet a more “classic” arcade look.
Special note
: If you are uncomfortable, unwilling, or unable to use simple power and hand tools (electric drill & screwdriver), I would discourage you from purchasing this item, since it does require some installation.
I will include an illustrated instruction booklet which includes some simple tips and insights I gained in building my earlier prototypes.

Marquee Art Graphic:
The viewable area of my marquee designs allows for artwork wider than the original marquee design, giving it a “letterbox” look.
Rather than “stretching” the original art image to fill the additional space or centering the artwork and “blacking out” the extra space on each side, the method utilized here is to fill in the areas left and right of the marquee with additional art.
This requires adding to the art, and I make every attempt to be faithful to the original artwork.
Viewability
:
After installing the prototype “extended” marquee on a Ms. Pac-Man cabinet, an unplanned, unexpected, and unforeseen outcome was observed.
Since this design moves the marquee approximately 4½ inches forward, it also “invades” the line of sight viewing angle of the top portion of the LED screen.
I have included a graphic reference image on one of the photo pages that visually explains this issue.
However, this “zone of diminished viewability” is extremely negligeable and involves the top two lines of the screen – the “Players One & Two” line and the score line.
It does not impair the maze playing “field”.
This phenomenon was observed when an average height player was playing while standing with the game cabinet placed on a standard Arcade1up riser.
Smaller players, or if players sit, have no “line of sight” issues.
Also, I found that average height players can slightly “flex” their knees downward temporarily should the need to see the full screen (top two lines) arise.
Nevertheless, I am offering this “face forward” light up marquee kit should buyers want to achieve the “classic” marquee look for this new style of cabinet.

:
Since this marquee frame was designed for the new “Pac-Man” series of Arcade1up cabinets, the following marquee artwork is available for buyers:
Ms. Pac-Man, Super Pac-Man, original white background Pac-Man, and negative black background Pac-Man version.
I can also provide other available marquee artwork for this marquee kit.
Shipping of this marquee kit will be delayed while I have the guys at the vinyl print shop fabricate your marquee choice.
Turnaround time is usually 2-3 days.

The marquee replaces the original marquee.
The marquee art graphic is affixed to a plexiglass panel that can be removed by sliding it out on the sides.
This panel is backlit via a reflective metal sheet with a strip of adhesive LED lights attached.
The LED light strip in the marquee is powered by the 12-volt DC “LIGHT BULB” receptacle found on the back of the Arcade1up LED screen.
The cable provided includes a “gender” changer adapter and a reducer male plug to make this connection.
The Installation Manual includes wiring diagram.
Overview of Installation
(installation details are included in the installation booklet that will be included with this item):
To install, the cabinet will need to lay on its side, and disassembled to the point when the original marquee was inserted.
It would be helpful to view the original assembly manual, if available.
The screws and white angle clip as well as marquee face Panel “B” and associated dowel pins will need to be removed from the marquee area.
DO NOT remove speaker Panel “M” and its aligning dowel pins, just the marquee face and angled plastic clip.
This is the recommended procedure for removal of the marquee face since the dowel pins “lock” the marquee face in place until there is enough room to withdraw the side panel(s) in order to remove it.
I feel that this step is the most challenging in the whole installation process.
After the face Panel “B” is removed, the cabinet can be reassembled.
The new marquee will slide into the cavity on top of speaker Panel “M” now accessible through the front of the cabinet.

After the marquee is positioned properly, two drilling locations will need to be marked through the side panel holes.
I found that I had to "custom fit" the marquee with each installation, and therefore, I did not pre-drill the marquee.
Once the holes are drilled in the marked locations, the T-nuts and screws (provided) are used to anchor the marquee into position and complete the installation process.
All marquee photographs utilized an Arcade1up Ms. Pac-Man cabinet.
This was done to give buyers a visual of what the marquee art would look like post-installation.
No Arcade1up cabinet(s) are included and are NOT part of this listing.
The photo of the back-top panel is intended to give a visualization of how the marquee top meets the rear angled cabinet panel.
The “VISUAL REFERENCE” photos are for illustrative purposes, and the items in these photos are NOT part of this listing.
Since this item will need to be self-installed and involves buyer drilling into marquee, the buyer assumes ALL risk with the installation and there is NO REFUND and NO RETURN on this listing once buyer receives this item via USPS.
Buyer also assumes all responsibility for damage done to the marquee or to the buyer’s arcade during the installation process.
