Description
Great example of WWI Trench Art. Trench art is a unique aspect of WWI history. Soldiers in the trenches often passed the time by making things with the materials that were around them. Ammunition casings, buttons, and other military items were commonly used, and the end result was often beautiful pieces such as this. This swagger stick is made from a wooden dowel with a rifle shell and US Army Coat Button affixed to the top and a pistol shell on the bottom. This is a great piece of art as well as history, and an excellent collector's item. It measures about 19.5" long and is in great condition considering its age, and the fact that it was made from wartime materials. There are obviously some scratches on the shell casings and button, and the dowel has some scratches as well. Please take a look at the photos and feel free to ask any questions. Thanks!!
