2 Antique Heavy Leather Horse Team Hames Covers Ornate Buttons Letter Imprints

I came across these unique horse hames covers in my travels here in Northern Michigan. They are old and were grouped with a Civil War Era Military saddle when I purchased them. At the top one measures 16 ¼ inches from front to back and from the top down to the bottom edge it is about 18 inches, the other is similar. The ornate buttons are not magnetic so I assume they are Brass. One smaller button is missing on one side of one. On one I see a light imprint of some letters on the lower side, can’t quite make out what they are. I am thinking ca. late 1800’s...
